Chocolate is always popular at Christmas (or any time of the year)! We love to make candy crafts that we can use as Christmas gifts. When Sarah was in primary school, her guide leader made the guides some Santa sleighs using Santa chocolates and Kit Kats. You can see them here. We wanted to put our own twist on this project and this is our version of Candy Cane Sleighs.
We used a large Kit Kat for the base, wrapped it in tissue paper and then attached two candy canes to form the bottom of the sleigh. We wrapped some assorted mini chocolate bars in tissue paper and tied them with bakers twine.
The smaller chocolates were stacked on the back of the sleigh and attached with double sided tape. Lastly we added a chocolate Santa at the front of the sleigh.
The candy cane sleighs were quick to assemble and would make great gifts for kids at Christmas. You could attach little name tags and use them to label the place settings for your Christmas dinner. For a fun variation, check out the red and white polka dot Chocolate Sleighs, over at Bonjour Sucre.
Check out some of our other Christmas crafts that feature candy.

Lisa/Sarah – where DID you find those Christmas Trees. I’m an American living in South Australia and I can’t find them anywhere! Except, of course, on line from the States. I’m looking for the sisal/bottle brush trees. By the way, thanks for the Bobble Heads! I’ve bought 5 of the blue ones online from Typo – can’t find the brown ones.
Anyway, I’m an avid reader of your blog. Thanks for all the wonderful postings!

Hi Lynn – We bought the bottle brush trees last Christmas on Etsy (from a US seller). I have never seen them anywhere in Australia for sale. I love them and wish I had more – especially the white ones. Those bobble head deer are so cute! I have one of each but can see why you bought more 🙂
