Product Review: Clover Tassel Maker

November 1, 2018 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 2 Comments

Product Review: Clover Tassel Maker

The simple addition of a tassel can really elevate a project and make it one of kind. I recently purchased a Clover Tassel Maker to see if it made making tassels easier. Previously I have used the cardboard method with mixed results.  Like all Clover products, the Tassel Maker is well made and simple to use. It comes with step by step instructions (with loads of photos to guide you through the process) so you can easily make your own tassels from your favourite materials – embroidery thread, yarn, twine etc.

I purchased the small/petit Clover tassel maker which is adjustable and makes tassels in the following three sizes :

  • 1 3/16 inch ( (3 cm)
  • 1 9/16 inch (4 cm)
  • 2 inch (5 cm)

I made the smallest tassels (3 cm)  and they were very quick to make. Once you have mastered the technique, they can be easily made in around 10 minutes. By making your own tassels you can customise your projects and make tassels in the perfect shade to best showcase your project. You can also make the tassels as full as you would like. In these tassels, I wound the thread/yarn 25 times around the tassel maker.

I made tassels from embroidery thread and cotton yarn. Next I will make some larger ones using woollen yarn and experiment with multi coloured tassels.  Be warned though , it is hard to stop at making one! I set myself up in front of the TV and made them production style. I am planning on incorporating the green yarn tassels into some Christmas projects.

Product Review: Clover Tassel Maker

Tassels look great attached to scissors; on blankets/cushions; added to zippers; on bookmarks; or to hang from the Christmas tree. If you would like some ideas on how to incorporate tassels into your next project, check out our Tassels Pinterest Board for loads more inspiration.

I recommend the Clover Tassel Maker – it is easy to use, adjustable, and makes lovely tassels to embellish your next sewing or crochet project.
