Stamped Tags and Labels

June 12, 2011 By Spoonful of Sugar - 28 Comments

I have a sweet set of Japanese Sewing Stamps that I bought from Cute Tape. I love the sewing motifs, and used them to make some fabric labels.
Using ink pads that are suited to fabric, I stamped some images on cotton twill tape and heat set them with the iron.
I sewed them onto scraps of fabric to make some little tags that I will used to decorate sewing projects.

While the stamps were out, I also stamped some shipping tags. Thanks to a sweet friend who gave me heaps of old sewing patterns, I have plenty of pattern tissue for gift wrapping. It works really well with some Japanese masking tape.

I’ve just rediscovered your blog and am delighted with it all. Its just wonderful and the visual content is bliss. I’m looking forward to veiwing it more regularly now and am off to explore your relationship with Japan as I’ve noted a few comments. I love everything Japanese and have spent some time there myself. thank you for allowing me to really enjoy my morning coffee! Susie

The Twirling Treasures Hot Pad & Placemat Set show The Twirling Treasures Hot Pad & Placemat Set showcases one of my favourite FPP designs — a stunning kaleidoscope‑style block that always turns out beautifully. Kaleidoscope blocks are some of my most popular FPP patterns, and this set is such a fun way to use them.  This set includes six sizes, making it incredibly versatile: use them as hot pads, trivets, placemats, or simply as a way to add a pop of colour to your kitchen. For these samples, I went with a monochromatic scrap‑busting approach, pairing fabrics from the same colour family with a low‑volume background. The black‑and‑white striped binding adds such a crisp, modern finish. It’s a wonderful project for building your FPP confidence — and a fantastic way to use up those treasured scraps. The Twirling Treasures Hot Pad set is our Pattern of the Week. It is currently 25% off this week in our Pattern Store and Etsy Shop.If you’d like to sew your own set, comment TWIRL and I’ll send the pattern link straight to you.Happy sewing! For those who are new here — hi, I’m Lisa 👋 And th For those who are new here — hi, I’m Lisa 👋 And this is the story of how a simple mother‑daughter blog changed my life.Back in 2008, my 11‑year‑old daughter and I started a little blog to share our sewing, crafts, and baking with family and friends. At the time, I was working as an occupational therapist, and sewing was my creative escape — something fun we could do together. But over the years, that tiny blog grew. I began contributing sewing patterns to books and magazines… I even wrote my own sewing book… And slowly, what started as a hobby became a side hustle — and a dream I quietly held onto. In early 2024, I retired from the public service and finally took the leap into full‑time creative work. Now I’m happily self‑employed in retirement — designing patterns, creating content, and sharing the joy of sewing with this wonderful community. It’s been the most unexpected, fulfilling chapter… and I’m so grateful you’re here.✨ Tell me — what’s YOUR dream job? I’d love to hear your story too. #sewingstory #meetthemaker #creativelife #sewistsofinstagram #sewingcommunity
