Sarah has been enjoying her sewing class at school this term and learnt to install a zip last week. She was keen to put her newly learnt skills to use and made up a little zippered pouch yesterday – of course it was aqua, with a red lining! It is so much fun having Sarah sew with me – we may need a second sewing machine so we can both be working together.
I spent a few hours this week on my scrap quilt made from the Butterfly Block.
I have calculated that I need to make 270 blocks – so far I have made 28 – I think it is going to be a long term project.
I came on yesterday and took down the carrot cupcakes recipe and today you have another lovely inspiration sitting there.
Sarah has done a fantastic job of her zippered bag, well done Sarah and your quilt is coming along nicely
Love the pouch – well done Sarah! And the butterflies – very cute!
Red and aqua, perfect match! Great job, Sarah!
And I simply love that butterfly quilt!
Love your Butterfly blocks … it will certainly be worth the effort to make 270 of them.
There is something to be said for a long term project! They can be very satisfying- especially one as pretty as this!
270 blocks-gosh! and that wasn’t the first word that came to mind. Your blocks look good and it will look amazing when its finished.
Well done Sarah-i haven’t tackled a zip in years.
the pouch is so cute! 270! WOW! I’m trying to make a yo yo quilt that requires 409 yo yos…but those are way less complicated than blocks! Good luck!
That butterfly block is so sweet!
I can’t wait until my little one is ready to sew beside me. I was lucky enough to stumble across a toy sewing machine at the op shop the other day so she can at least pretend 🙂
And Sarah’s pouch is so sweet too!
Sarah has your talent, dear Lisa!! You two together make magic!!
Much love!!!

How fun to be able to sew along side Sarah! I love her new zippered pouch, especially that fabulous Paris patch. Where do you find those? Perfect for a little pouch like that. Love seeing the quilt project you’re working on – such cute blocks and colors.
Looks realy great!!

How lucky you are to have Sarah sew with you. Her bag looks great.
How fun is that, to sew together with your daughter! I am sure the second machine will be there soon. Love the ‘bodies’ of the butterflies.
Well done Sarah…zips can be a bit tricky sometimes 🙂 That’s a lot of blocks needed Lisa…but think of the memories when you look at all those scrap pieces 🙂
Butterfly quilt is looking quirky…well done.
Hi! I LOVE following your blog. I’ve been going through your older posts – I was wondering if you had shared/ willing to share the butterfly paper piece pattern? Thank you SO much!
