Weekend Sewing

June 11, 2011 By Spoonful of Sugar - 17 Comments

Sarah has been enjoying her sewing class at school this term and learnt to install a zip last week. She was keen to put her newly learnt skills to use and made up a little zippered pouch yesterday – of course it was aqua, with a red lining! It is so much fun having Sarah sew with me – we may need a second sewing machine so we can both be working together.

I spent a few hours this week on my scrap quilt made from the Butterfly Block.

I have calculated that I need to make 270 blocks – so far I have made 28 – I think it is going to be a long term project.

the pouch is so cute! 270! WOW! I’m trying to make a yo yo quilt that requires 409 yo yos…but those are way less complicated than blocks! Good luck!

That butterfly block is so sweet!

I can’t wait until my little one is ready to sew beside me. I was lucky enough to stumble across a toy sewing machine at the op shop the other day so she can at least pretend 🙂

And Sarah’s pouch is so sweet too!

How fun to be able to sew along side Sarah! I love her new zippered pouch, especially that fabulous Paris patch. Where do you find those? Perfect for a little pouch like that. Love seeing the quilt project you’re working on – such cute blocks and colors.

How fun is that, to sew together with your daughter! I am sure the second machine will be there soon. Love the ‘bodies’ of the butterflies.
