IKEA is one of my favourite stores – I always manage to find something I can’t live without. One of the most versatile items I have bought is the IKEA Ribba Frame. I used some recently for a project for Silver Magazine. I framed some pieces of scrap booking paper, and added a small toy car to a deep frame, to make some nursery art. This would also make a great background for a treasured photo, and can be easily updated as your child grows.
I realised that I have many of these frames in other corners of my home. I have framed some old LP Movie Soundtracks and they hang in the Theatre.
Sarah made a flower picture that hangs in her bedroom.
I have framed vintage patterns in the sewing room.
Kylie has done an amazing job on some framed art this week. Check out the technique she used – this one is on my must do list!
I apologise for the photos in this post – I need to read up on the best way to take photos of glass. Any tips would be most appreciated!

wow…nice framing
oh so like minds like minds, I have done very similar things with lots of photo frames, I have a set of old keys in one, looks great, and makes for easy changeable inexpensive artwork!
What a cool idea – the pattern looks fab!
Ooh, I love the vintage sewing pattern idea! So clever.
love the framing..especially the flowers and the pattern, both close to my heart…girls and crafting. i have some ikea frames that i want to put fabric into!
Great way to use the frames, all so different.
I think you’ve done well with the photography, can’t help on how to make it better…. sorry 🙁
What a great display idea!
Cute projects Lisa!
I know just what you mean! I went to IKEA a couple of weeks ago and they had a sale on frames. I have to jazz them up a little and I bought them despite not having anywhere to put them!
oh wow these are fabulous I especially love the vintage pattern one!!!!
Oh, I totally love those frames. I’ve made ‘shell art’ for my kids with them by framing the most beautiful shells they’ve collected. I am waiting for more of them to come in here in Israel… they were sold out last time I was there and we only have one store 🙁
What a really cute idea! I love the shadowbox, and the vintage pattern. Great for my sewing room!
These frames make wonderful presents and are also great activities for the kids to do on the holidays. I especially love the vintage pattern one.

Great idea, but it’s just no fair! I too love Ikea, however living in the Midwest, the closest one is 4 hours away. I wish there was more you could order online from their website. If so, I’d be ordering ALL the time 🙂
SO CLEVER!
You always have the best ideas. Now you have me looking around my house for stuff to frame!
x
We have Ribba frames in several sizes at our house, and in white–love them! They really showcase artwork beautifully. I love the ideas here. :o) Happy Day, Lisa ((HUGS))
Oh great ideas. Wish our Ikea store was a bit closer.
What a great idea! I wish we had an Ikea in my state – no such luck there is only one in Mexico City 🙁
Thank you for visiting my blog! You make my day with your comments 🙂
I love IKEA too. But I just can’t go there without spending a load of cash. It’s the marketplace that does it too me. There is always something that I think I just can’t live without!
I love all of your ideas! Particularly the record covers and patterns… such a contemporary way of display! Genius! The car project is just way too cute!
I think your photography is spot-on! 🙂
Hugs! Vikki 🙂
Very nice. Love the flower picture your daughter made.
IKEA is a dangerous place! LOL…I can never leave without buying gadgets and storage, but now I will have to stop in the picture section too 🙂 Love what you’ve done with your frames, especially the vintage sewing pattern xxx
so lovely! what a sweet way to display ephemera!
In agreeance with all of the above – that Ikea is fab but dangerous, and this is a really clever way to get your favourite images from all sorts of places up on display. Nice!
Oh Lisa…Thanks for sharing! I have an idea for a few Christmas gifts now!
Please keep the great ideas coming!
How creative!! The car one is PERFECT for a little mans bedroom!! I love ikea also!!

Those are adorable! Thanks for the link to the other frame — it’s really cute too. You are so lucky to have an IKEA near you — I think our nearest one is almost 4 hours away. ;-(
Oh they look amazing! I have used the same frame for a stitchery, and I love the way it looks! Looks like you are doing good on taking pictures of glass, not an easy task at all!
That’s a great idea. I love those frames and always look at them when I visit IKEA. Love Sarah’s flowers…how sweet is that?!
Popped in to say hi!
, you can never have enough frames! i love all of these.
Love your framing job, I think you did a good job with the photos…Sorry I am not a great photograph to help further…I have few a these frames and wanted to make some felt fabric art…you might have given me a push in the back 😉
II love Ikea too. Our nearest branch is 2 hours away so we make a day trip of it, we even stayed over njight once. Well we were kitchen researching at the time. i really like the folwer version. Very crisp and colourful.
No Ikea here either, which, considering my lack of restraint, probably isn’t a bad thing!
Great ideas though 🙂 Must try them out some day.
I just love the flower picture. It’s so graphic and cool. What a wonderful idea!
Hello Lisa,
On your camera there is a section that shows the different formats,eg;landscape etc amongst this is taking photo’s through glass, press this button and you save heaps of time and don’t get the reflection on the frame unless of course you have non-reflective glass. Hope this helps you. Happy days.
I love what you and Sarah did with those frames and I love your expression: I always manage to find something I can’t live without
I have to confess…I’ve never been to Ikea. *gasp* But your frames look fantastic!
Oh, a fram/box. The wife of my nephew is a known Frenc artist, and her work evolves around the “box” theme. If you care to have a look, her website is http://www.bellinda.fr
Everything looks gorgeous as usual Lisa!!! I especially love the sewing pattern in a frwme idea..
Take Care
Jodie 🙂
