I have rekindled my love of cross stitch recently (as you may have noticed!). I enjoy the slow and methodical stitching – very relaxing after a busy day at work. I am currently making some mini cross stitch motifs that I can add to little lavender filled sachets. This little heart and flower stitchery was taken from a French cross stitch book, titled Rose by Agnes Delage-Calvet and Anne Sohier-Fournel. Sadly it is now out of print, but the authors have published two books in English – A Rainbow of Stitches, and Sweet Stitches from the Heart which include similar designs.
Lecien Cosmo (a division of Lecien Japan) produces the most beautiful quality 6 stranded embroidery floss made from Egyptian cotton. It is so soft and lovely to stitch with, and comes in the most wonderful range of pretty and vibrant colours. I haven’t had any issues with tangles, splitting, or knots. Cosmo have recently added some new pinks and yellows to their floss collection – perfect for spring inspired stitching. I used Cosmo floss in a pretty soft pink for this sachet.
The wardrobe sachet measures 5 x 5 inches. I have used 25 count Dublin Linen in white for the cross stitch foundation. The pretty floral fabric used for the sachets is Old New 30’s by Atsuko Matsuyama for Lecien Fabrics.
The sachets are filled with dried lavender and smell divine. Perfect for popping into your lingerie drawer.

Beautiful. Can you please advise where this pattern can be purchased? ?
A Spoonful of Sugar says
Hi Louise – the cross stitch pattern is from an out of print book but I have listed a couple of other books by the same authors which also have lots of sweet embroidery and cross stitch patterns (refer to blog post). If you would like to know how to create a cross stitch sachet, I made them similar to the ones I made here: http://aspoonfulofsugardesigns.com/2017/01/monogrammed-sachets/ based on the pattern in the Maison Sajou Book. Happy stitching!

Do you know an online source for lavender to use in the sachets?

Hi Cheryl – If you search for dried lavender on Etsy you will find plenty of suppliers.
