Cross Pillow

May 10, 2014 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 3 Comments

Cross Pillow

Sometimes simple design features work best and it really lets the fabric shine. I have been playing around with some patchwork pillow designs this week, but in the end decided to go with a simple appliquéd Swiss cross or plus symbol. This is one of those quick but satisfying projects that was made in an hour or so.

Cross Pillow 2

The cross was raw edged appliquéd onto a 20 inch square of white cotton drill fabric.I added  a zipper closure to the back panel. Drill fabric has a nice weight and is suitable  for home décor projects. The cross pillow is bold and graphic and will be perfect in our home theatre. It has been quite wet today but as soon as the sun came out, I dashed outside to get some photos. I love sewing Saturdays ….

Cross Pillow 3

The black cross fabric is one of Ann Kelle’s designs from her new collection, Remix for Robert Kaufman. Remix is due in stores in May 2014 and the cross print is available in 7 different colourways.

We love sewing and patchwork projects that  incorporate the Swiss cross or plus sign. It is such a great design feature. Check out the following  for more inspiration:

Disclaimer: Thanks to Ann Kelle for sending us samples of her Remix fabric for Robert Kaufman to use in our projects.
