One of my favourite projects of the past year or so, was the Cathedral Window Pillow that I made for my Mum for her birthday. I love this classic patchwork technique and have made a number of pillows/cushions in this design over the years. The cathedral design looks more modern and fresh when the windows are combined with white quilters homespun.
I have had a number of requests for this pattern, and am pleased to announce that it is now available in our Etsy Store.
The pattern for this pillow was first published in Homespun magazine and is also on the front cover of A Quilters Diary 2012.

It’s beautiful Lisa! I’ve always loved that pattern and I’m hoping to make one for our family room soon. I love your closure in the back too — very pretty!
lovely pillow! I’ve always thought these cathedral blocks were so cool. Kind of an illusion when you see how they are made. Fun project to offer as a pattern!
This is so beautiful! I’d love a whole quilt with that pattern, but cannot make the time to sew it right now.

Cathedral windows are so intriguing. Lovely colors.
So beautiful…..I’m off to order my pattern!
Beautiful pattern!
Your cathedral window pillow is one of my all-time favourites, Lisa. I have it on my sewing list and really must make one so I can stop lusting after the one you gave your Mum. ;o)
So nice.I love!
Very beautiful! I’ve made once…long time ago…hv forgotten now!
What fabric line did you use for this? I love that fabric so much!
I have read the pattern several times, but cannot find where you mention the size of the border around the front of the cushion. After 18 – shouldn’t there be instructions of how to properly finish the front before tackling the back? Many thanks
Hi Annie
I have checked the pattern and you need to look at step 14 where you centre the panel of cathedral window foundations on the square of fabric that will become the pillow front. This creates the border around the patchwork panel. Once the front and back of the pillow are sewn together, you then stitch around the outside of the patchwork area to create a flange edging. Hope this is clearer.
That is beautiful. I am in the process of making a cathedral window quilt…. it is going to take a long time
Cathedral Window Quilts are gorgeous – i haven’t attempted one yet! Happy stitching!
