Blog Meet and Quick Christmas Decorations

November 25, 2008 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 45 Comments

Firstly, I would like to thank you all for your wonderful comments about Du Jour – I was blown away by all the lovely comments and feedback I received. For those of you that were interested, I believe it should be arriving in book stores around Australia this week and is available on line from the publisher.

I had my first ever blog meet this morning, with the lovely Janelle from Threads of Friendship. It was wonderful to meet a kindred spirit!! Janelle and I share a love of Farmers Market fabric and have been sourcing it from various stores around Perth. We had a fabric exchange and here are the lovely pieces I received to add to my stash!

I am starting to think more about Christmas recently and have been working on updating my decorations. I have made a collection of yo yo ornaments to hang on the tree.

I have also used up more of my paint cards to make these quick paper balls. They are easily constructed by cutting strips of paper/card. Punch a hole in each end. Join 8 – 10 strips together with a brad at each end and then fan into a ball shape. I attached some silver thread so they can be hung from the tree. These are a great quick kids craft and can also be made out of used Christmas cards or any card that you have on hand.

Edit: A wooden tree, similar to the one used with the yo yo’s, is available in Australia from Adairs.

I found packaged yo-yo’s at a local fabric store. I was tempted (even though they’re simple to make) to purchase them. They were made from vintage print fabrics that I’ve not seen available.

The card projects are a great recycling idea.

    Sweet Wishes,

Thank you so much for the wonderful reception to t Thank you so much for the wonderful reception to the Quadra Pouch launch last week — I’m thrilled you’re loving this pattern as much as I do.Today I’m sharing a brand new Tilda version, stitched in the large size and made entirely from blenders. I used four Bellflower prints from the Wallflower range for the exterior, and four Stella prints from the Songbird collection for the lining — eight fabrics in total, making it delightfully scrappy.I love how easily Tilda collections mix and match, and how each corner of the pouch showcases a different print. The clever panel construction gives the pouch a neat flat base without boxed corners, and the result is both practical and beautifully structured. If you’d like to sew your own, the Quadra Pouch pattern is available in both my Pattern Store and Etsy Shop.Comment QUADRA and I’ll send the link straight to you.Pattern Details: Quadra Pouch (3 Sizes) - available in our Pattern Store and Etsy ShopFabric: Bellflower blenders and Stella blenders from Tilda, with thanks to @tilda_australia#tildafabrics #quadrapouch #sewingproject #scrapfriendlysewing #pouchpattern
