Tim Tam Cake

December 29, 2011 By Spoonful of Sugar - 12 Comments

It was Mr Sugar’s birthday on Boxing Day, and Sarah made him a Tim Tam Cake. He loves chocolate and Tim Tam’s are one of his favourite biscuits. For those of you unfamiliar with the delicious Arnotts Biscuit, a Tim Tam is composed of two layers of chocolate malted biscuit, separated by a light chocolate cream filling, and coated in a thin layer of textured chocolate. Yumm….

Sarah found a fabulous recipe for Tim Tam Cake over at Raspberri Cupcakes.  The cake looks like a giant Tim Tam and consists of two layers of light chocolate sponge, sandwiched together with a chocolate buttercream, and covered with chocolate ganache. It was cake that ticked all the boxes!

Needless to say, the cake didn’t last long, and it was the perfect birthday treat!

I’ve never heard of a Tim Tam cake, but it looks quite decadent, especially with the raspberries garnishing the plate.

Oh-em-gee. That just made my night. I live in the US but studied abroad in Australia for a year when I was 15. Tim Tam’s changed my life. Ok, maybe that’s a little much but I have a serious addiction to them. And it’s been so long since I had one!!! I think the love affair started when my host Mom taught me that you could bite off the ends and suck your Milo up through the Tim Tam. Life changing I tell ya!! 😉
