Don’t Delay!

December 18, 2012 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 3 Comments

Christmas is such a busy time of time. We couldn’t survive this time of year without our lists. This year we are hosting Christmas lunch for our extended family of 16 people. We have “To Do” list for gifts; groceries; food to bake/prepare; Christmas menu; odd jobs that need doing around the house; school books and supplies to purchase etc. We like to have everything perfect for the Christmas season, and then we can relax over the holidays. Life is extra busy as the teens are working most days in their casual jobs which means a lot of trips back and forth to the shopping centre. Time is in short supply.

A recent survey by Yellow Pages has highlighted that Australia is a nation of procrastinators with 53% of respondents admitting they put off jobs at home or at  work.  According to the survey, 69% of Australians are more likely to procrastinate at home than work, with household chores (67%), DIY (36%) and cleaning (35%) the jobs we avoid doing. With life being so hectic, especially at this time of year, it is no wonder that people put things off. If you are like us, you are madly working on reducing your list so that you can relax over the summer holidays.

I know we need to find an electrician to get some garden lighting repaired for our summer entertaining. We are also looking for a plumber to replace a faulty kitchen tap. Then there is the carpet that need cleaning, the windows that need washing, and a few other odd jobs around our home. With only a month of my long service leave left, I need to get moving on ticking these items off my list before I return to the day job.

To help Australians solve their procrastination problems, and ‘tick’things off their ‘to do’  list,
Yellow Pages has released an updated iPhone and iPad App. The Yellow Pages App has more than two million local businesses listings, which makes it easy for Australians to find solutions to their problems.

We have been putting the new App through its paces over the past couple of days. When searching for a business, you enter your location and it gives you all the businesses in that listing. You are able to sort the listings by distance, which makes it easy to identify local businesses and tradies. We prefer to support our local community and the Yellow Pages App makes it so much easier to find local businesses. You can easily contact the advertiser via the search results direct from your iPhone (via phone, website or email). Some business listings include other helpful details such as opening hours etc. You can easily save the listings to your contact list. You can also get directions to the business and it shows the search results on a map. This would be especially handy feature if you were travelling and not familiar with the local area, and needed to find a restaurant or accommodation.

So if you are like us and struggling with some “To Do” lists, don’t put off those tasks any longer. By downloading the free Yellow Pages App you can save time this festive season, and get organised in 2013.

A full list of the Yellow Pages® App features are listed at www.yellowpages.com.au.
The free app is available for download at https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/yellowpagesaustralia/id325629947?mt=8

Disclaimer: Yellow Pages provided us with an iPhone 5 in order to review the Yellow Pages App. All opinions and photographs are our own.
