Liberty Tissue Cover

June 29, 2015 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 11 Comments

Liberty Tissue Cover tutorial by A Spoonful of Sugar

Liberty Tissue Cover: This is a beginner friendly sewing project you can sew in under 30 minutes.

I always like to have a few small gifts on hand to include in swap packages or birthday gifts. Tissue Covers are always a popular handmade item – they are practical and pretty – and are perfectly sized for your handbag or car. I made a few using sweet Liberty tana lawn, paired with polka dot linen and velvet ribbon.  They are quick to construct – perfect for when you need a few gifts in a hurry. I love how the Liberty makes them extra special.

If you would like to make your own Liberty Tissue Covers, just follow our Back to School Tissue Cover Tutorial. The tutorial includes lots of step by step photos to guide you through the construction. They are really easy to make and are a great beginner project. You should be able to make one in under 30 minutes. Use Liberty Lawn for the main feature fabric, polka dot linen for the contrasting fabric, and velvet ribbon for the trim. I lined my tissue cover with white homespun. They are perfectly sized to hold a small pack of tissues.Liberty Tissue Cover tutorial by A Spoonful of Sugar

The Liberty prints used in these Tissue Covers are Mauverina A and Amy Hurrell D. The Polka Dot Linen and velvet ribbon were from my stash.  Use any of your favourite Liberty scraps.

Hi Rona – I remove the tissues from the plastic pack and put them the fabric cover. So much nicer than plastic 🙂

Just take a seam ripper and cut a slit in the tissue pack on the long side.
