Sewing with Liberty Gifts from the Garden

January 24, 2026 By A Spoonful of Sugar - Leave a Comment

There’s something magical about sewing with Liberty fabrics, and the new Gifts from the Garden collection is no exception. Printed on Liberty’s beautiful Lasenby cotton, this range celebrates the charm of cottage gardens with delicate florals, leafy sprigs, and sweet fruit motifs. The colours are soft, fresh, and timeless — perfect for small projects, gifts, and anything that deserves a touch of Liberty elegance.

A big thank‑you to Regent Street Fabrics for sharing this collection with me. Gifts from the Garden was released in January 2026, and it has quickly become one of my favourite Liberty ranges to sew with.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve stitched three different projects using these prints, each one highlighting the fabric’s gentle detail and versatility. I’m excited to share them with you today.

🌿 Ribbon Pouches (Set of Three Sizes)

The Ribbon Pouch pattern is one of my most popular designs — quick to sew, beginner‑friendly, and endlessly useful. For this set, I made all three sizes, pairing the Liberty prints with coordinating solids and pretty organza ribbon.

To personalise each ribbon pouch, I also made felt labels for the front panels, using one of the tiny fruit motifs from the Gifts from the Garden prints. The soft felt adds a lovely layer of texture, and the fussy‑cut fruit detail ties the whole set together in the prettiest, most cohesive way.

  • The small pouch is perfect for earbuds, lip balm, or sewing notions.
  • The medium size works beautifully as a travel pouch or everyday organiser.
  • The large pouch is ideal for project storage, cosmetics, or gifting.

The fine Liberty motifs shine on these small-scale projects, and the Lasenby cotton has just the right structure for crisp seams and neat topstitching.

🍓 All Seasons Gift Tote (Two Versions)

Next, I stitched two All Seasons Gift Totes, each showcasing a different print from the collection. This pattern is such a satisfying make — simple construction, clean lines, and a shape that works for gifting, storage, or everyday errands.

The Liberty prints give the All Season Gift Totes a fresh, garden-inspired feel. I love how the fruit motifs add a playful touch, while the florals keep everything soft and classic. These totes fold flat, sew up quickly, and make wonderful reusable gift bags. You can find the pattern for the All Seasons Gift Tote in our Pattern Store and Etsy Shop.

💗 Love Tags (Free Pattern)

Finally, I used some of the smaller Liberty offcuts to make a batch of Love Tags — my free, scrap-friendly pattern that’s perfect for adding a handmade touch to gifts.

The tiny florals and fruit sprigs are ideal for fussy cutting, and the tags look so sweet tied onto a present, a pouch, or even a bouquet. They’re a lovely way to use every last piece of your favourite fabric.

A Joyful Sewing Experience

Working with the Gifts from the Garden collection has been such a delight. The colours, the detail, and the soft hand of Liberty Lasenby cotton make every project feel special. Whether you’re sewing gifts, accessories, or small organisers, these prints bring a gentle, garden-inspired charm to your makes.

I hope these projects inspire you to explore this beautiful collection.

Happy sewing,
Lisa x
