Inspired by the Sweet Talking Coffee Cups in Mollie Makes (made with chalkboard paint), we made our own version using Chalkboard Vinyl. Chalkboard vinyl is easy to cut using a cricut or other digital cutting machine. We found a speech bubble on the Plantin Schoolbook Cartridge, and another speech bubble in svg format over at Bea Original.
Sarah and I are counting down to our trip to Paris (as you can see in our choice of words!). These speech bubble mugs would make great gifts, you could write a birthday message on the cup. They would also be fun at a party when you are taking coffee orders to make sure you don’t get the drinks mixed up. We have been leaving clever messages on the cups all week.
We are also planning on cutting out a giant speech bubble in chalkboard vinyl to put on the fridge – perfect for recording items for the shopping list!
We have used vinyl in other coffee mug projects, such as a monogramed mug; number mugs, and bonjour cup. These cups have been used in the dishwasher heaps of times and they are still going strong.
The vinyl came from Cricut.
