Things We Love About a Wet Weekend…

May 22, 2010 By Spoonful of Sugar - 31 Comments

It has been cold and wet here in Perth this weekend, the first real rain we have had in ages. It has been the perfect weather for:

Knitting – We stopped by Lincraft yesterday and Sarah found some lovely red wool and has already started on knitting herself a scarf.

Sashiko – I bought myself a sashiko kit in Japan earlier in the year and finally got it out to stitch in front of the TV. With the stitches already marked on the fabric it is perfect for when I don’t want to concentrate too much!

Comfort Food – I made up a big pot of Zucchini and Leek soup, and some home made bread. Perfect winter sunday lunch.

Movies – Watched “The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas” which was very moving and sad. Sarah is studying the Holocaust at school.

Craft and Quilt Fair – I spent a few hours yesterday at the Craft and Quilt Fair. I met up with a crafty buddy for some retail therapy. I was drawn to the Japanese supplies and bought these fabrics.

Christmas Projects – I always find it strange working on magazine projects a long way in advance. At least the weather this weekend reminded me of the Christmas’ we have spent in the Northern Hemisphere as I stitched away.

Hope you have all been enjoying your weekends!

Gosh girl! You’ve been a busy girl this weekend! With this cold weather we’re having there’s nothing nicer than a roaring fire, food and crafts. I love colour of the wool, that is lovely. I bet you had a fun time at the craft fair. Enjoy what is left of the weekend. Kind regards, Anita.

We have enjoyed our weekend! The rain didn’t start here till this arvo. We live on a main road (drawback!) and can hear the cars swooshing whenever it rains (advantage!). It was pumpkin soup here for lunch. Love your sashiko!

What a fabulous way to spend a wet weekend! I love the color of yarn Sarah picked out, and I would love to find a sashiko kit like that, with the stitches printed on. Always wanted to try that. BTW, I recognize some of those fabrics in your Christmas projects – how wonderful to see them in action!

    Lovely sashiko project.
I must say I prefer the book over the film; even more gripping.

Hi Lisa & Sarah – it has been a while since I have had a chance to blog – we have moved the shop home a couple of month ago to a studio attached to the house – so maybe I will get more time to craft for myself as well as do all the business things – I have a new blog as well now and would love you to pop over for a look – Hope you are all well – One day I must tell you all the uses Ella has found for the oven mitt that Sarah made and gave to her – some are very amusing
