I have a feeling that this year is going to be all about crochet! I have nearly finished the crochet blanket I started last year but took a break to make this sweet little crochet pear. The pattern comes from the delightful French crochet book, Tendre Crochet by Sandrine Deveze (aka Tournicote). The book has so many sweet amigurumi crochet patterns – the hard part was choosing which pattern to make first.
I had a few queries about Tendre Crochet, after I posted a photo of it on instagram a few days ago. It is in French, but armed with google translate, my high school French, and this helpful list of French crochet terms, it was easy enough to follow the pattern. If you aren’t confident in translating patterns, I believe an English edition is set to be published later in the year.
I have ordered some yarn and can’t wait for it to arrive. Now to decide which design to make next!

It’s beautiful! I like the yarn you chose too, Lisa. Could you, please, tell what is the name of the yarn?
A Spoonful of Sugar says
Thanks Lena! I used Moda Vera Beetle yarn from Spotlight. It is a cotton/acrylic blend. I have ordered some DMC Natura and am waiting for it to arrive. That is the yarn used in the book.

Thank you so much. 🙂 Will check some yarn shops too for this yarn.

Super cute. Makes me wish I could crochet properly.

It is really easy – only chain and single crochet. Great project to practice your crochet on 🙂

I found a link to French crochet terms and figured it out from there. I have heard others have used google translate. An English version is due out later in the year. Bonne Crochet!
Klaaire says
Please could you tell me where to get the book with the Pear pattern in, in English? Many thanks
A Spoonful of Sugar says
Hi Klaaire I did read somewhere that an English translation was due out this year. Perhaps you could email the author and ask her? Or ask your local bookshop to look up when it will be available?
Charlotte says
Just received the new English version! Can’t wait to make her little creations.
(Picked mine up online at book depository)
