Nothing beats giving a gift of self-care. The gentle soothing warmth from a wheat filled heat pack is ideal to use in colder weather as a gentle warmth; to soothe aching muscles in your back/neck; or to aid in pain management. This pretty and colourful patchwork Heatpack is just the thing to add to a self care basket for a special friend.
Featuring colourful flying geese blocks set on a soft waffle weave background, this scrappy patchwork heatpack is quick to construct from fabrics in your stash. I made four flying geese units in groups of four blocks, each in a different colourway. I used a scrappy binding to finish off the heat pack. It is a colourful and modern design that will appeal to a wide range of gift recipients of all ages.
I used contrasting fabrics on the back which has a simple envelope closure. I added a tag for a sweet finishing touch.
The patchwork heatpack has a cotton insert filled with wheat. You can also use another grain of choice such as rice or lupins. I like to add a handful of dried lavender for added aromatherapy.
I used the Heavenly Heatpack sewing pattern to make this patchwork heatpack. The pattern includes a set of free gift tags and heating instructions that you can print out and add to your gift.
You can find the Heavenly Heatpack sewing pattern in our Pattern Store and Etsy Shop for immediate download. If you make one, please share on instagram using #heavenlyheatpack I love to see what you create from my patterns.
