Oven Glove Give Away

April 11, 2008 By Spoonful of Sugar - 23 Comments

In 2006 I came runner up in the WA Young Inventor of the Year Schools Competition. I entered with my invention Mitt Magic – Oven Glove for the Junior Chef. It is an oven glove that goes all the way up to your elbow, is sized for children up to about 12 years of age, and is made of extra thick materials for safety. It also has a pocket for your cake tester. I won $500 dollars for my invention and have used it to set up a business. I am selling Mitt Magic for $10 each plus postage. You can find more details here.

Me and WA Premier, Alan Carpenter

I entered the WA Inventor of the Year again in 2007 with Visor Magic and won $1500 for this invention. I will give you more details on it later.

Samples of Mitt Magic

I have decided that I will have a Random Giveaway to give away one of my Mitts that has been professionally maufactured. If you wish to enter, post a comment on this post, and specify if you would like a girls Mitt or a boys Mitt, and their age before next Friday.

Wow! Congratulations on winning runner-up! This is my first peek at your blog–liking it so far! I’d definitely like a girls mitt as I have 3 daughters, all of whom like to bake. Thanks!

I read about your invention a little while ago and thought it would be fantastic for my nephew. He is 10 years old and likes to bake cookies and cupcakes so the glove would be perfect for him!

What a wonderful, creative little mind you must have. That is such an achievement for a young person. You MUST be so proud of yourself!!! As I’ve commented in a previous post, I am starting my ‘almost eight year old’ daughter on the whole cooking thing so I’m sure one of your fantastic inventions would come in very handy!!!

Oh my goodness!!! You have no idea how happy I am to have stumbled across your post tonight. My 4yo daughter and I cook often and I feel I may be too protective over her, BUT, your well crafted oven glove would be fantastic. What a lucky girl you are to have your Mum nurturing your interests Sarah, keep on creating! (I know it is probably the boy version..but I just love the kitty cat glove, we have 2 cats!!!).

Wow! Sarah, Congratulations. What a wonderful idea. I would love to surprise my daughter with a pair but I’m sure she would prefer the blue pussy cat ones. She is 13 and starting to help me with the cooking. Thank for this lovely offer.

What a clever girl you are. I think a blue one would be best in this house because my son does more cooking than my daughter.

Sarah, you super duper you! Inventor, crafter, cook, and generous giver; well done on achieving something many grownups have never though of! My two girls would love your oven mitts; I think they would be great inspiration for other kids, not only to cook, but to see what great ideas can become.
