I love how quick and easy these Handy Drawstring Pouches are to sew. Such a fun afternoon project and they are useful for storing so many things. I am making up a batch of pouches to use as gift bags – eco friendly, plus the bag is a gift in itself, so win/win.
If is fun to mix and match your fabrics. In this version of the handy drawstring bag, I have made two patchwork panels, each using fifteen, 2 inch squares. I have cut the front and back panels from the patchwork, and added coordinating fabric for the sides, interior, and drawstring channels. There is something about sewing simple patchwork squares that brings me joy.
The best feature of this handy drawstring bag is the shape of the panels so there is no need to sew boxed corners. This ensures the pouch stands up by itself, even without using any interfacing. Such a fun and clever design that is beginner friendly. Perfect for new sewists to make over the summer holidays.
