Flying Geese Mini Quilt

March 17, 2016 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 11 Comments

Pastels 1

I am really drawn to sweet floral prints. Some of my favourite collections are Flower Sugar and Old New 30’s, both produced by Lecien Fabrics. They release new collections each year and the prints all work so well together.

I gathered some of my favourite pretty florals and made flying geese blocks. I used a BlocLoc ruler to square up and trim the small flying geese blocks which made for accurate piecing.

I selected fabrics with low contrast, and stitched them together in a clock wise direction. With some simple quilting and a ticking stripe binding, it has become a cute mini quilt or a Mug Rug for the sewing room. It measure 6 1/2 inches square. Flying Geese 2

Lisa and Sarah, you find such delicious fabrics, and make such pretty and practical little projects. With nine of my eleven grandchildren being girls ranging in age from five to eighteen, whenever the need a gift I go straight to your website. I am never disappointed and save myself so much time looking elsewhere, (and giving myself more time to stitch). Beautiful !!
Best Wishes, Jennifer Moore, Adelaide Hills, SA

Sharing a closer look at the Handy Drawstring Pouc Sharing a closer look at the Handy Drawstring Pouch today — a sweet little project that’s as practical as it is pretty. I stitched this one in the blue and gold colourway of the Tilda Songbird collection and love how the soft watercolour florals shine in a small make. The pouch features cleverly shaped panels (with no boxed corners), stands tall when in use, and folds completely flat for storage. It’s also reversible, which makes it such a fun and versatile sew.   These little pouches are perfect for organising your sewing room, gifting to a friend, or popping into a project bag.The pattern includes three sizes, and you can find it in both my Pattern Store and Etsy shop. Comment HANDY and I’ll send the link straight to your inbox.A big thank you to @tilda_australia for gifting the beautiful fabric.#tildasongbird #drawstringbagpattern #aspoonfulofsugardesigns #tildafabrics #sewingproject
