Flower Coaster Pattern

Flower Coaster Crochet Pattern

Crochet coasters are proving to be fun to make and are the perfect project to use left over yarn. I have used cotton yarn in a variety of colours in this batch of flower coasters. They are quickly made (around 15-20 minutes per coaster), so you will have a set in next to no time.

If you would like to crochet a set of flower coasters, check out our pattern below. You will need four assorted cotton yarns (I used DMC Natura), a size 3.25 mm crochet hook; and a tapestry needle. The coasters measure 3.5 inches (9 cm) in diameter.

Using Yarn 1

Foundation Ring:

6 ch and join with sl st to form a ring.

Round 1:

2 ch, 15 dc into the ring, close with a sl st (total of 16 dc).  Fasten off.

Using Yarn 4.

(attach a new colour using a slip stitch)

Round 4:

3 ch, sl st into next sp; repeat into each gap between the 3 dc groups in previous round.  Close round with a  sl st.

Round 5: (not shown in photo – refer to finished coaster to see this round)

1 sc, 3 dc, 1 sc into chain space; repeat into each chain space. Fasten off.

Weave in all loose ends of yarn.

Use the coasters to rest you cup of coffee or icy cold drink. They protect your table surface and add some retro charm to your desk or table.

These are really sweet! I am looking for just the right ‘to go’ project for my annual journey south. There will be lots of time at the airport between flights this trip. This just might fill the bill! Thanks so much for sharing!

How do you do the scalloped edge? It doesn’t appear to be in the instructions? Thanks

The final round makes the scalloped edge. It is 1 sc, 3 dc, 1 sc into each 3 chain space of the previous round. Happy crocheting 🙂

These coasters are just gorgeous, Heli! I am a novice crocheter and these are going to be my first project.

There is reference to a video under the ‘Round 2’ section – (check out this you tube clip to see the cluster stitch), but there is no link to the video.

    Can you please share it?

    Thanks,
    Jo

Hi I know this comment is years old now but the answer might help someone else
To me, it looks like a 2dc cluster, which is as follows:
Yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull through, yarn over, pull through 2, yarn over, insert hook into same stitch, yarn over, pull through, yarn over, pull through 2, yarn over, pull through 3.
If you need video instructions, there should be plenty of youtube tutorials by searching “double crochet cluster”.
This pattern also looks like it has 1 chain stitch in between each cluster – this is the “cluster space” referenced in the next round.
      Happy crocheting!
