The Economy Block is the perfect choice when you want to focus on a fussy cut image from your novelty fabrics. In these 3 inch blocks, I fussy cut some adorable bunnies from a Japanese print in my stash and framed it with some of my Atsuko Matsuyama fabrics.
In these Economy blocks I used the foundation paper piecing method which gives accurate results. These little squares come together really quickly and are a joy to sew. I used my newest foundation paper piecing pattern – Economy Block for this project. This pattern includes 5 sizes of economy blocks – 2 inch, 3 inch, 4 inch, 5 inch, and 6 inch. You can use the mini blocks to make a mini quilt, pillow, bag, dolls quilt or more. Be warned you won’t want to stop at one and before you know it you will have a big batch of blocks. The pattern includes a handy guide if you are a foundation paper piecing beginner.
The little bunnies are so sweet. I plan on making a dolls quilt with these little cuties.
