I love to design scrappy projects so that no small fabric scrap can go unwasted. My latest pattern, Cosy Cat Mitt, features a monochromatic patchwork pocket which uses 22-30 different fabrics from the same colour family. When the fabrics are combined, it creates a feature pocket. I like to use a combination of fabrics in my patchwork such as small-scale florals, geometrics, stripes, polka dots and more. I always include a couple of low volume fabrics for contrast and added interest.
Cosy Cat Mitt, is a handy heat resistant oven glove that is shaped in the silhouette of a cat’s head and features two pockets on the front. The pockets are finished with a satin piping which gives a professional finish. The pockets keep your hands safe when taking tray in and out of the oven.
I used gingham fabric on the back of the Cosy Cat Mitt. The gingham makes ideal guidelines for grid quilting. I used Insul Brite, insulated batting in the mitt to make it cosy and safe when getting hot dishes and pans out of the oven.
The Cosy Cat Mitt is a companion piece to the Cosy Cat Coaster and the Cosy Cat Placemat. These are two of our most popular patterns so it is fun to provide another option when looking for gift ideas to sew cat lovers.
If you are looking for a fun gift for a baker or home cook, the Cosy Cat Mitt is a fun choice. The 13 page pattern is available in PDF format from our Etsy Store and Pattern Shop.
