Chocolate Crackle Cookies

August 11, 2012 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 4 Comments

There has been a lot of baking going on at A Spoonful of Sugar this week! We celebrated an 18th birthday – and Sarah has been baking her brother all of his favourite treats.

One of the treats were these delicious Chocolate Crackle Cookies. Sarah used Martha Stewart’s recipe from her Cookies book. You can also find the recipe here. They are really fudgey and it is difficult to stop at one. I love the effect that comes from rolling them in icing sugar before they are baked.

Sarah also created an amazing Birthday Cake – an Oreo Vanilla Buttercake with Chocolate Fudge Frosting. It consisted of two layers of Vanilla Buttercake with crushed Oreo’s folded into the mixture. The layers were sandwiched together with chocolate fudge frosting and a few whole Oreos between the layers. The entire cake was then covered with the frosting with a pile of crushed Oreo’s on top for decoration. It was amazing – sadly I forgot to take a photo of the cut cake – but let me assure you it was delicious.

There are more goodies in the oven for a celebration we are having with the extended family this afternoon.
