Sewing and baking are two of my favourite hobbies. I combined them in my latest pattern, Bakers Buddy Mitt. When I am just getting a cookie sheet out of the oven, I don’t want to use full sized oven gloves. This little mitt is perfectly sized to protect your hand and wrist when taking trays in and out of the oven. I have lots of Christmas baking planned and theses mitts will be perfect.
I made these Bakers Buddy Mitts in beautiful gingham fabric by Devonstone Collections. I have selected Christmas colours but these mitts are perfect any time of year. You need three constrasting fabrics for the mitt, pocket, and hanging loop.
To make them heat safe, I used a layer of insulated batting (such as InsulBrite), plus two layers of cotton batting. This makes for a nice thick glove.
Pro Tip: using gingham fabric on the palm side of the mitt makes quilting super-fast – you can use the gingham rows as a guide when quilting.
You can find the Bakers Buddy Mitt in our Pattern Store and Etsy Shop. These make great holiday gifts for yourself or a friend. Let me know in the comments what you love to bake in for the Holidays.
