I usually prepare my lunch to take to work each day. Now more than ever, I am happier eating food that I have prepared myself. On a work day, I generally head outdoors and have my lunch in the garden area. The Apple Lunch Tote is perfectly sized to hold my lunch, fruit, cutlery and more.
The Apple Lunch Tote features three foundation paper pieced apples on the front panel. If you are new to foundation paper piecing, this a great project to start on. The apple blocks are easy to construct and are a fun way to use some of your favourite red scraps of quilting cotton.
The Apple Lunch Tote features a drawstring cover, a little ribbon tag, contrasting sides, and webbing handles. I used a fun apple print for the main exterior fabric (purchased in Japan many years ago) an apple print for the lining (Lecien Flower Sugar range), and drawstring cover and side panels (Bonnie and Camille- Ruby range). Fun and fruity!
The Apple Lunch Tote pdf sewing pattern is available in our Etsy store. It is a 21 page pattern to print at home and includes full sized templates for the tote exterior (front/back and side panels), and foundation paper pieced pattern for the apple and stem block. Like all of our patterns templates – both Letter size and A4 Format are included. Lots of handy step by step photos will guide you through the construction process. This pattern is suitable for a confident beginner or intermediate sewist.
This is such a fun and functional pattern to make. If you make one, I hope you will share a photo of your make on Instagram using #applelunchtote and #aspoonfulofsugardesigns – I would love to see your creation.
