Merry Little Christmas Sewing Projects

August 31, 2025 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 5 Comments

With the festive season just around the corner, I couldn’t resist diving into the new Merry Little Christmas fabric range by Tilda. This soft, nostalgic collection is brimming with vintage charm and has inspired a few delightful makes in my sewing room this week. Whether you’re prepping handmade gifts or adding cozy touches to your holiday décor, these fabrics are a joy to sew with.

✨ About the Fabric

Launching worldwide on 1 September 2025, Merry Little Christmas features a beautiful palette of cosy reds, duck egg blues, soft creams, and gentle greens. The prints evoke a sweet vintage feel, with festive motifs that are perfect for fussy cutting and adding whimsical detail to your seasonal projects. It’s a collection that feels both timeless and fresh—ideal for holiday sewing that’s full of heart.

🎁 Ribbon Gift Box

My first make was the Ribbon Gift Box, a self-standing fabric container that’s perfect for gifting small treasures. I paired contrasting prints from the collection and finished it with a luxurious satin ribbon for a polished, festive look. It’s a quick and satisfying project that adds a handmade touch to your holiday giving—and it’s beginner-friendly too! You’ll find the Ribbon Gift Box pattern in my Pattern Store and Etsy shop.

I made a sweet tag to match. Free gift tag pattern is called Threaded Tokens and you can download it here.

🧵 Mini Treat Pouches

Next up: the Mini Treat Pouches, stitched using the Paper Scenes print—an enchanting design inspired by traditional papercut art. These little pouches are perfect for filling with chocolates, small gifts, or heartfelt notes. They’re simple to sew and make lovely additions to stockings, table settings, or gift baskets. I love how the nostalgic motifs bring a touch of old-world charm to each pouch.

Mini Treat Pouches have a handy pocket in the back to slip a gift card or note. There is plenty of opportunity to add ribbons, tags, and more to make these cute little pouches your own.

The paper scenes fabric is perfect for these little Mini Treat Pouches. I had the perfect gold elastic to add a festive finish. You can find the pattern in our Pattern Store and Etsy Shop.

🎄 Bitsy Basket in Merry Little Christmas

The Bitsy Basket is a delightful way to showcase the nostalgic charm of the Merry Little Christmas fabric range. I stitched a sample using coordinating prints from the collection, and I love how the soft reds and duck egg blues highlight the basket’s hexagonal shape and drawstring top. This beginner-friendly project is perfect for holding festive treats, sewing notions, or tiny gifts—and it’s a joy to sew with scraps. Whether perched on your sewing table or tucked into a holiday hamper, the Bitsy Basket adds a handmade touch that’s both practical and heartwarming. Bitsy Basket pattern is in our Pattern Store and Etsy Shop.

Threaded Tokens

Threaded Tokens are a sweet and simple way to add a handmade touch to your holiday gifting. This free pattern includes mini stitched tags that are perfect for gift toppers, tree decorations, or keepsake ornaments. Designed to be beginner-friendly and scrap-friendly, they’re ideal for showcasing your favourite festive prints—especially small-scale designs like those in the Merry Little Christmas collection. Whether you’re pairing them with Ribbon Gift Boxes or slipping one into a Mini Treat Pouch, these little tokens bring charm and personality to every project. Download the Threaded Tokens pattern here.

🎀 Mini Drawstring Gift Bag

This sweet Mini Drawstring Gift Bag is a quick, beginner-friendly make that’s perfect for holiday gifting. I stitched mine using prints from the Tilda Merry Little Christmas collection, pairing nostalgic motifs with a coordinating Threaded Token for a charming finish. It’s ideal for holding small treats, notions, or keepsakes—and makes a lovely addition to stockings, gift baskets, or festive tablescapes. Scrap-friendly and gift-ready, this pouch is a joyful way to showcase your favourite seasonal fabrics. You can find the eco-friendly Mini Drawstring Gift Bag in our Pattern Store and Etsy Shop.

Scrappy Mini Stockings

These sweet Scrappy Mini Stockings are a festive favourite in our home! For this trio, I used the charming Tilda Merry Little Christmas fabric, opting for a coordinated look with one print for the exterior, another for the lining, and a third for the cuff—though they’re just as delightful when made scrappy. I added a little folded ribbon tag above the heel for a handmade touch, plus a hanging loop so they’re ready to adorn your tree, gifts, or holiday table. Want to turn them into an Advent calendar? Pair them with a set of Threaded Tokens (our free pattern!) and add numbers to each one.

🎄 Holly Jolly Tree – Free Pattern

I couldn’t resist stitching up a festive little tree using the nostalgic prints from the Tilda Merry Little Christmas collection—and the result is this sweet Holly Jolly Tree! It’s a beginner-friendly project that’s perfect for showcasing your favourite seasonal scraps. Whether you display on your mantle, tuck it into a gift basket, or use it as a table accent, this cheerful ornament adds handmade charm wherever it goes.

You can get our Holly Jolly Tree free pattern here.

Ribbon Pouch (3 Sizes)

I couldn’t resist making a little Ribbon Gift Pouch to highlight the sweet gingerbread house print. I’m going to fill this little pouch with home baked treats (I will tuck a little cellophane bag inside) and tie with a ribbon. Quick to sew and looks so elevated with the ribbon.

💌 Final Thoughts

I’ve had so much fun creating with the Merry Little Christmas collection, and I’m already dreaming up more festive projects. Be sure to subscribe to my newsletter so you don’t miss out on other projects I create with this delightful range.

Special thanks to Two Green Zebras/Tilda Australia for supplying the Tilda samples used in these projects. You can find more of my Tilda projects here.

There’s something so lovely about putting together There’s something so lovely about putting together a bright, happy self‑care gift… especially when it’s handmade. I stitched a colourful set using Ruby Star Society fabrics - a Relaxation Eye Pillow and a Heavenly Heatpack - and styled them into a complete gift bundle. To make it feel extra special, I lined a small bamboo tray with soft tissue, added the two calming makes, tied them with a pink ribbon, and tucked in a few thoughtful extras: a candle, a box of speciality tea, and a tiny plant. It’s simple, cheerful, and such a beautiful way to show someone you care. Both projects are scrap‑friendly, beginner‑friendly, and quick to sew - perfect for weekend making or last‑minute gifting. If you’d like to sew your own self‑care set, comment SELFCARE and I’ll send you the link to the bundle. Thank you so much for the wonderful reception to t Thank you so much for the wonderful reception to the Quadra Pouch launch last week — I’m thrilled you’re loving this pattern as much as I do.Today I’m sharing a brand new Tilda version, stitched in the large size and made entirely from blenders. I used four Bellflower prints from the Wallflower range for the exterior, and four Stella prints from the Songbird collection for the lining — eight fabrics in total, making it delightfully scrappy.I love how easily Tilda collections mix and match, and how each corner of the pouch showcases a different print. The clever panel construction gives the pouch a neat flat base without boxed corners, and the result is both practical and beautifully structured. If you’d like to sew your own, the Quadra Pouch pattern is available in both my Pattern Store and Etsy Shop.Comment QUADRA and I’ll send the link straight to you.Pattern Details: Quadra Pouch (3 Sizes) - available in our Pattern Store and Etsy ShopFabric: Bellflower blenders and Stella blenders from Tilda, with thanks to @tilda_australia#tildafabrics #quadrapouch #sewingproject #scrapfriendlysewing #pouchpattern
