I completed my red string quilt this week, and I love it again now that it is quilted. (isn’t that often the case?
I went with white borders and a plain red binding to tone it down.
The back is simply white homespun with my four Joseph’s Coat blocks appliqued onto the backing. I think I like the backing even more than the front 🙂 I decided not to complete the Joseph’ s Coat Quilt and this was the perfect place to display the four orphan blocks. They make quite an impact on all the white.
My family have voted this quilt their favourite out of all the quilts I have made.

Lisa it’s just gorgeous, but then I’m a huge fan of red and white. I can see why the family has voted it #1, and the Josephs coats applique on the reverse just gives it that perfect finish.

This quilt turned out so gorgeous! It’s my new favorite too. I love the string pieced blocks in all reds, but I especially love the wide white outer border framed in red binding quite nicely. And I adore the back – what a cool medallion block. Fantastic job with this!

I love this quilt especially the plain deep white border which really makes those string blocks “pop”. I’m in the middle of a string quilt in orange and have been wondering how to finish it off. I hope you don’t mind if I borrow your wonderful idea. And I love the back as well – such a good way to finish and use a UFO.
