Chocolate Cookie Recipe

February 20, 2012 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 8 Comments

If you are after a simple and quick chocolate cookie recipe – this is it! Sarah baked these yesterday and they are absolutely delicious. So chewy and chocolatey….

Ingredients:
  • 170 g (6 oz) dark chocolate coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 cup (60 g) butter
  • 1/3 cup plain (all purpose) flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • pinch salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups caster (superfine) sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 oz milk chocolate chips or coarsely chopped
Preheat oven to 180 deg C (350 deg F). Line two baking trays with baking paper.
Melt together the dark chocolate and butter. Allow mixture to cool. Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together/ In another bowl beat the the eggs, sugar and vanilla until thick and creamy. Stir the melted chocolate into the egg mixture, followed by the flour and chocolate chips/chunks.
Drop tablespoons of mixture onto baking sheets and bake for 8 – 10 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
Makes 24

Trust me, they are the most irresistible chocolate cookies – you won’t be disappointed.

I’ve been craving something sweet — cookies are my favorite. It’s breakfast and chocolate cookies would go perfect with my morning tea. :o)

I just made these and they didn’t turn out. Are you sure the amount of flour is correct? The mixture was very runny and the cookies ran into each other to form one bit gooey sheet. I added another 1/2 cup of flour to the second half of the mixture and they were more substantial and look a bit more like your picture. The flavour is great, but the texture isn’t right.
