20 French Inspired Projects and Recipes

April 9, 2013 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 12 Comments

If you have been following our blog for a while, you will have noticed that we regularly share projects that have a Parisian theme. Our blog header, designed by Sarah, features an Eiffel Tower. We love everything French  – and it influences the projects we design and the recipes we bake. We were lucky that Mr Sugar’s job gave us the opportunity to live in Paris for a year, back in 1999. It was a wonderful opportunity to explore more of Europe and we enjoyed experiencing the French culture. I joined an English speaking playgroup with the kids and we often met in the gardens of Versailles for picnics. It was a wonderful time.

This time next week, Sarah and I will be arriving back in Paris for a wonderful mother/daughter holiday. We are so excited and can hardly wait to visit all our favourite places and discover new places. We plan to write a few posts while we are there to share some of our experiences. Meanwhile we have put together a compilation of our 20 favourite French Inspired Projects and Recipes. Click on the title under the picture to be taken to the original post for more details on the project/recipe.

Do you have any “must see” places or stores for us to add to our list? Please let us know in the comments.

How exciting! I have been a parisian for a few years now, I don’t know how much have changed since your last trip. I bet you know Marché Saint Pierre and all the nice fabric stores at the bottom of the Sacré Coeur. I also have heard of La Droguerie (http://www.ladroguerie.com/) near Les Halles, but I have never check out the place. What kind of places are you looking forward to visit (food places? craft places? fabric places? kitchen goods? Let me know!)
I hope you have a blast in Paris and I can’t wait to read your posts on the City of Lights.

Lucky you! My favorite places include the Jardin du Luxembourg and the adjoining cafés, and I found some great fabric stores just a bit south of the Sacré-Coeur. But you’ll have an awesome time, no question!

My son took his now fiancé to Paris for a weekend and an engagement! Every time I see something French I think of them! The closest I have gotten to France are the French islands, St Pierre and Michelon, just off the coast of NFLD! I love your little projects. Thanks for sharing!

Have a fantastic time….a shop I discovered when in Paris in 2011 was Le Bonheur des Dames 17 av Daumesnil, 75012. Get there via Metro: Gare de Lyon – ouverture du lundi au sansei de 10h30 a 19th. It is the most wonderful needlework and fabric shop….
