One of my favourite aspects of Christmas is having the whole family gathered around the table as we share a meal together. I love to decorate the table so it is festive and welcoming. Christmas dinner tradition inspired my latest pattern – Merry Bauble Table Set. This pattern features a placemat and coordinating mugrug in the shape of a Christmas bauble. It is such a merry and bright set that adds a pop of colour to your holiday table. Best of all it can be easily made using fabrics from your scrap pile.
The baubles feature a foundation paper pieced star in the centre of the bauble. The star is made in two coordinating colours with a low volume background. This makes it a great stash buster project and can be easily made in an afternoon.
The top of the baubles features a bauble cap complete with metal hardware and black zigzag stitching. The pattern includes a colouring sheet so you can plan your colours. This design works well as bright festive colours but can equally look effective in a more classic holiday colours. Options include – silver and blue; red and gold; and green and beige.
The Merry Bauble Table Set pattern includes two sizes, making it versatile addition to your pattern library. If you a hosting a drinks party, the mugrug/coaster size is ideal. Pair a mugrug with a festive coffee mug for a thoughtful gift.
