I made this Mermaid Pouch with the lovely Tilda Cotton Beach collection (due to be released on February 1). Featuring shells and sea anemones, it makes a sweet little drawstring bag. I love the gorgeous shades of green and gold in the fabrics I have selected for this pouch. This just might be my favourite Tilda fabric range yet! Perfect for summer sewing. This was Mermaid Pouch would be a fun addition to a Mermaid costume don’t you think? Perfect for storing little treasures.
I used the Hexie Garden PDF Sewing Pattern (available in my Pattern Store and Etsy Shop). The scallop shell print was perfect to fussy cut for the front and back of the bag. The sides of the bag are Limpet Shell print, and the lining is Coral Reef. I had the perfect gold satin rattail cord for the drawstring.
We have been having glorious sunny weather here in Perth over the past few weeks and I found lovely shells at my local beach. Perfect little photo props – I might just store them in my little bag. If you would like to make your own, use the Hexie Garden Pouch pattern (just omit the hexies on the front of the pouch).
