Heart of the Home Mini Quilt

August 28, 2016 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 6 Comments

Heart of the Home Mini Quilt- Pattern available from www.etsy.com/shop/aspoonfullofsugar

I am excited to launch my latest pattern, The Heart of the Home Mini Quilt. I first shared a photo of this Mini Quilt over on instagram back in July – I didn’t think it would take me so long to get it all written up! It is now available over in our Pattern Shop and Etsy store.

The Heart of the Home Mini Quilt is a variation of the traditional log cabin block. I have used a foundation paper piecing method to quickly and accurately piece the hearts. This version shown here uses Flower Sugar Sweet Carnival (available fall 2016). This project is perfect for confident beginners to learn the foundation paper piecing method. The pattern includes step by step instructions, photographs, and the template needed to foundation piece the heart block.

The Heart of the Home Mini Quilt can be easily made in a day. Sized at 14 3/4 inches x 14 3/4 inches, it is a lovely size for a mini quilt, or can be used as a placemat or tray mat.

I made another mini quilt, using High Tea Collection by Lecien Fabrics. Perfect for a tea party!

Included in the pdf pattern, are bonus directions to make Heart of the Home Coasters. These ones feature hand stitching detail and were made using Retro 30’s Child Smile and Old New 30’s fabrics, both by Lecien Fabrics. This project can be easily machine or hand quilted. You can made “scrappy” hearts by using lots of fabrics (as shown in the High Tea version above) or use only two fabrics per heart.
