Sometimes simple design features work best and it really lets the fabric shine. I have been playing around with some patchwork pillow designs this week, but in the end decided to go with a simple appliquéd Swiss cross or plus symbol. This is one of those quick but satisfying projects that was made in an hour or so.
The cross was raw edged appliquéd onto a 20 inch square of white cotton drill fabric.I added a zipper closure to the back panel. Drill fabric has a nice weight and is suitable for home décor projects. The cross pillow is bold and graphic and will be perfect in our home theatre. It has been quite wet today but as soon as the sun came out, I dashed outside to get some photos. I love sewing Saturdays ….
The black cross fabric is one of Ann Kelle’s designs from her new collection, Remix for Robert Kaufman. Remix is due in stores in May 2014 and the cross print is available in 7 different colourways.
