Hexagon Runner

July 29, 2010 By Spoonful of Sugar - 27 Comments

Sadly my life has had little time for creativity lately, apart from some quick paper projects. This week I found a little more time since I am no longer glued to the TV each evening watching Masterchef. I worked on my Hexagon project and have completed a table runner.

I used natural osnaburg for the base fabric, and then added lots of little hexagons in Modern Meadow by Joel Dewberry for Free Spirit.

The backing is a leaf vein print from Modern Meadow. I love how it looked after the quilting. I quilted it in parallel lines, 3/8 inch apart.

It was very therapeutic to get back to sewing again. I can see more hexagon projects in my sewing future but next up I have a quilt top to quilt.

It’s so lovely. I love the colours you used. I have been planning to make a table runner for a while now, I think they look so cute, but somehow I never got to it. But who knows, maybe this weekend. You inspired me to get busy! 🙂

Absolutely lovely, Lisa!!! I love how you first quilted the tablerunner and then sewed the hexagons on it. Perfect fabrics too, for the runner. Glad you could find time for this, to inspire us!!!

Lisa i love this, could be that i love the look of the plain osnaburg and the quilting, it all looks amazing. We (Andrew & I) are a little bit lost without MasterChef and the TourDeFrance, back to crafting i suppose.

Lisa, your table runner looks really nice! Quilting in parallel lines is a great idea. I’ve never thought of quilting with that pattern. Thanks!

I agree with Amanda and Simone – I love the modern/traditional interplay, and I love the pre-quilted/patched-over look. This makes me want to sew something similar for my quilt chest/coffee table.
