Scrappy Star Pincushion

July 21, 2015 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 4 Comments

Scrappy Star Pincushion Pattern by A Spoonful of Sugar - available from https://www.etsy.com/shop/aspoonfullofsugar

You can never have too many pincushions, right?? I had so much fun making the Scrappy Star Pincushion, that I had to make three. I used Retro 30’s Child Smile 2015 fabrics by Lecien Fabrics paired with some white linen for this project.  Love the bright primary colours which look great with vintage buttons.

The Scrappy Star pincushion features a patchwork star flower and will add colour to your sewing room. They would make a lovely gift for a crafty friend and would be perfect to pop in a swap package. It is a modern take on the traditional French Biscornu style pincushions. Made from cotton and linen “scraps”, it can be easily assembled in an afternoon and is a beginner friendly project.

I added some sweet monogram ribbon to my pincushions.

The vintage sewing supplies came from my Mum and Nan’s sewing boxes – I can’t resist vintage sewing supplies.

How lovely! My daughter has been collecting fabric scraps for a while already. A pincushion would be the perfect project.
