Sweetly Stitched Handmades is a beautiful sewing and embroidery book by the talented Amy Sinabaldi, from the popular blog, Nana Company. Amy’s blog is one of my all time favourites and a must read each week. When I discovered Amy had written her first book, I ordered it straight away and have been eagerly awaiting for it to arrive. It did not disappoint and is filled with 18 lovely projects in the signature Nana Company style. Amy has a wonderful attention to detail and combines pretty floral fabrics and linens, adds some sweet embroidered details, and creates special projects for family, friends, and home. Amy is not only a talented designer, but also an accomplished photographer. She has beautifully photographed and styled all the projects in the book. Serious eye candy! The hard part is deciding which project to make first!
Sweetly Stitched Handmades is divided into 5 chapters – Handmades for Baby, Handmades for Little Ones, Handmades for the Kitchen, Handmades for the Craft Room, and Handmades for Everyday. The projects are varied and original and include: Jam Jar Pincushion; Baby Bear Rattle, Crayon Castle Caddy, and Airmail Simple Tote. The projects are zakka in style, and include sweet touches like embroidered details, tags, buttons, and crocheted trims. Each project includes clear photographs, step by step directions, and full sized templates. Amy includes some helpful tip and tricks to help you achieve great results. She explains how to make her favourite embroidered linen patch that she adds to many of her projects. The book has so many cute projects to inspire you to get creating, and many of the projects could be easily made in an afternoon or weekend. Plenty of sweet projects to make as gifts (or for yourself). I can’t stop looking through its beautiful pages.
I can’t resist Kitchen projects and started with the “On the Spot Trivet” as my first project. I made mine using a pink polka dot linen as the foundation, and appliqued some pretty dots using some of my favourite prints.
It reminded me of a plate of macarons and I found the perfect macaron label to added to the bottom corner. (The macaron label is on a fabric print from Yuwa Live Life Collection that features macarons, gateaux, and cute labels.)
Perfect for my next tea party!

This is a lovely book, I need to go and order a copy. I am so glad that you mentioned the patterns are all full size, that is such plus point in a sewing book. x

That is a big plus for me too Kay – I hate hating to enlarge designs. Happy sewing!

Oh, Lisa, this is perfect. Totally smitten with those sweet circles on the dotty background, but the “cherry on top” is that sweet as can be macaroon label. Irresistible! :o)
Thanks for the heads up on the sew along. Amy’s book has been on my wishlist, but I don’t think I’m going to wait to get it for my birthday in a few months… thanks for the extra incentive to treat myself to an inspiring new book.
