One of the many treats we enjoyed when we lived in France were Madeleine’s, a small sponge like cake baked in a shell shaped pan. You could buy them by the bag in the supermarket. I have made them a number of times, often with mixed results. I made up a batch today using a new recipe I found over at The Food Network. These ones were honey and vanilla flavoured and were delicious. Perfect for an afternoon tea treat.
Do you like the waxed paper with strawberries? I found this at Tokyu Hands in Tokyo. I haven’t seen printed waxed paper before – trust the Japanese to make even the most functional things look lovely. The cute Mushroom Cup came from Typo.
Sarah’s favourite spread is Nutella. We ran out yesterday so Sarah found a recipe to make her own (I love how my girl thinks!). She made up a batch and it tastes delicious. You can find the recipe she used at Oh Nuts.

What a wonderful day! I’m impressed that Sarah ended up making her own Nutella, which looks pretty easy and tasty. I’ve always wanted to try making Madeleine’s, especially in those lovely shell-shaped pans.
So sorry to hear you sprained your ankle! Hope you get pampered and feel better soon!

Hi. I’ve enjoyed reading your blog. The Britania road where the book you’re reading is set is about a mile away from my house. I’ve been wondering whether to read it – will certainly do so now.

Oh poor you look after the ankle. I like the idea of no Palm oil nutella. I went and listened to Jane Goodall talk last week.

Oooh, I read the description of your book and it sounds so interesting. Were these madelines light and crisp? The first ones I ever made were wonderful, but of course I can’t find the recipe and every batch since then have been heavy. Yours certainly look wonderful!

Love the idea of homemade nutella. My daughter is a nutella addict, I’m sure she’d love to have a go at making her own.

I’m not a Nutella lover myself, but dear Blossom can inhale a jar from 50 paces.
I’m going to try this on her as I love the healthier aspect to the recipe. 🙂
As always, thank you (Sarah) for a delightful tip and thinking outside the box. 🙂
Hugs
