Review: Mollie Makes

August 22, 2011 By Spoonful of Sugar - 14 Comments

I first spotted Mollie Makes on a few craft blogs a couple of months ago and have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to purchase my own copy (I have a weakness for crafty magazines). The Mollie Makes website lists where the magazine can be found in Australia (and the USA) and when I discovered one of the places was the newsagent near my workplace, I have been stalking it for the past couple of months waiting for my first glimpse! Today was my lucky day a they had a pile of Issue 2 for sale (although the current issue is No 4). It sells for $12.95 in Australia which is quite a bit more than the GBP 4.99, but well worth it. Digi issues are also available but I prefer a paper copy myself.

The beautiful photography and styling, the matt pages, and the retro feel make this a lovely magazine to inspire. It promises a mix of making, thrifting, collecting and crafting and does not disappoint.  The projects are an adorable mix of sewing, embroidery, paper crafts, party  ideas, crochet, dressmaking, and softies – something for everyone.

I think a subscription might just be top of my Christmas wish list this year……

How disappointing to find the Victorian newsagents are all miles out of the city area where I live! Don’t think I can justify a 20km round trip to have a look!

I have the first ussue (digital) but agree that it would be better in print so I can sit with a cuppa! Pity about the price of the paper copy though!!

I agree Mollie Makes is an adorable magazine. I spotted it at Barnes and Noble the other day and bought it right away. I had never seen it before I got issue 3. I may have to subscribe to this one too.

We must have been looking at the same blogs as i have been reading about it a lot lately and went on their website to take a peek. Maybe i might be lucky and have it at a newsagent near me as well.

I have taken a subscription out for this mag, but I was disappointed that I wasn’t receiving the free kit that was available with it….until the recent issue arrived last week and there was the kit for the necklace. So I don’t know why the first few didn’t arrive?? ‘Tis a nice magazine.
