My Name is Lisa and I am a Bookaholic…

May 25, 2010 By Spoonful of Sugar - 28 Comments

I have a bit of an addiction to craft books, I’ll admit it. Another one arrived in the mail yesterday. It is the classic, Densye Schmidt Quilts (2005). I have often seen this book referenced by bloggers and was unable to find a copy in the local library system. I found it here.

The book has 30 projects – 20 are smaller sewing projects with many suitable for a beginner including eye pillow, cards, oven mitt and slippers.

It also includes 10 of her stunning quilts. My goal this year is to make a few projects using only solids.

I have another book on order and then I had better restrain myself! But just in case I feel the need to go book shopping again, what is your favourite craft/sewing book that you would recommend?

I’m a bit like Natalie, i am a cookbookaholic, although those solid quilts do look very appealing especialy the orange one. I have just ordered sashiko fabric, needles and thread from the link you gave me. Is the thread like DMC and you use a couple of strands or is it one strand and do you embroider with a hoop? Just have to be prepared for when it arrives so i can start straight away.

I’m awaiting the arrival of Kaffe’s Spectacular quilts new book and the previous Romantic Quilts book. I don’t often buy books and when I do I have to love most of what’s inside. Kaffe never disappoints.

I just love books, especially craft books. But my new obsession would have to be sewing books. I just received “I Love Patchwork” (thanks to you) and I am itching to get into it.
This weekend looks like the perfect place to start.

I have to physically prevent myself from buying more craft books these days 😉 But fortunately I already own this one 🙂 I’ve made several projects from it and love Denise’s style. Yours too!
