I am excited to release the latest pattern in the Hexie Placemat series – the Hexie Pumpkin Placemat! This placemat is perfect for fall/autumn, Halloween or Thanksgiving. The Hexie Pumpkin Placemat features a foundation paper pieced pumpkin in the centre of the placemat, framed by a simple patchwork border.
This versatile pattern can be used as a placemat, mug rug/coaster, pot holder or trivet. If using as a pot holder or trivet, simply add a layer of Insul-brite (insulated wadding) so it is heatproof.
In this duo I used neutral colours in the border which give them a modern farmhouse appeal. You can easily change the colours to suit your home or occasion. For example in a Halloween placemat set you may prefer to use more orange and black fabrics and add Jack O’Lantern features to the pumpkin.
If you are looking for a smaller project to work on in between larger projects, the Hexie Pumpkin Placemat is a fun make that can be easily made in an afternoon. Be warned – you won’t want to stop at one and soon you will have enough for your whole table.
