Handmade Envelopes

April 19, 2014 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 8 Comments

Hamdmade Envelopes by A Spoonful of Sugar When I was in primary school, I had penpals in Queensland, Singapore, and USA. It was so exciting to arrive home from school and have a letter waiting.  I still love pretty stationery supplies and receiving letters via “snail mail”. I still love to send sweet letters and cards to friends.  To make your letters more special, make handmade envelopes using pretty paper, and decorate with other embellishments to make them one of a kind. Handmade Envelopes 1 Small envelopes are perfect for holding gift cards, gift vouchers, or craft supplies.Get creative, and add doileys, stamped images, stickers, and washi tape. We added a stamped name and monogram to some of our envelopes using alphabet stamps. Envelope templates Envelopes are super quick to make using envelope templates. Cut around the template using a scalpel or scissors. Use a bone folder to score lines in the spaces provided, and then fold and stick the flaps down. Handmade Envelopes 2 You can make envelopes from scrapbooking paper, wrapping paper, pages from old books or magazines, – whatever you have on hand. Add a label so there is a spot to address them if they are being sent via the post. Handmade Envelopes 3 One of my favourite papercraft books is Hello Sandwich (written in Japanese but has lots of zakka style papercrafts). I love her pretty handmade envelopes which you can see here. Oh, they are all so very lovely. I used to have some penpals as well and I too loved the days when I received my letters. I now would love to give the gift of this experience to my children. Thanks for the link to the envelope template too.

There is something special indeed about receiving handwritten letters in the mail. So much nicer than a facebook message or sms 🙂
