On our last trip to Japan, we visited Studio Ghibli , a museum dedicated to the anime films made by Studio Ghibli. The museum is an anime and art museum of one of Japan’s most famous anime studios. It is housed in a whimsical building and includes a small theatre, displays showing the history and techniques of animation, children’s play area, cafe and more. If you are travelling in Japan with teens or younger kids, it is well worth a visit. You can purchase tickets within Japan at Lawson convenience stores – you will need to nominate the date and time slot as the museum is quite small and very popular.
One of Studio Ghibli’s most well loved characters is Totoro, a large forest spirit from the film, My Neighbour Totoro.
I recently spotted a Felt Totoro on Pinterest, made by Cheek and Stitch and couldn’t resist making one.
The tutorial is easy to follow with the pattern pieces you will need and lots of step by step photos.
If you have an anime lover in your home, they will love a felt Totoro.
