I love afternoon tea celebrations with friends – it is always a good excuse to use my favourite vintage china, including this special cup, saucer and plate that my Nan gave me when I was 12. Pretty china deserves pretty placemats such as this Dresden placemat. As soon as I spotted the upcoming Tilda fabric range, Windy Days, I know it would be the perfect match for my tea set.
The Dresden Placemat can be easily made in an afternoon. It features a 16 petal Dresden with a fussy cut centre. Windy Days features a focus print with umbrella’s, wind/rain, and more. The sweet umbrella print looks great in the centre of the Dresden . I made this using the pink and raspberry prints from the collection with a teal binding.
The Dresden Placemat is perfectly sized for tea trays. It can be used as a mugrug or to hold a plate of tea time treats. The PDF Pattern is available for immediate download from our Etsy shop and Pattern store.
This pattern is versatile and can be made in a range of scrappy fabrics to match your tea set. Below are the Dresden Placemats featured on the front of the pattern cover.
Tilda Windy Days will be released on 1 October 2021. Look for it at your favourite fabric store. Thanks to Tilda Australia distributor, Two Green Zebras for the pre release fabric used in this project. To see more projects made with this sweet range, follow #tildawindydays on instagram.
