Christmas is my favourite time of year – and with only 11 weeks to go, I felt inspired to make a quick project this afternoon.
Materials:
- IKEA Rotera 8″ lantern
- red cardstock
- narrow red ribbon
- Cricut + Very Merry Tags Cartridge (optional)
- adhesive foam squares
I used my cricut to cut out the 6 reindeers to place on the outside of each window of the lantern. If you don’t have a die cutting machine, you can hand cut out a simple shape such as some stars, snowflakes, or Christmas trees (refer to photo below).
We are going with a red and white theme again this Christmas – I love the simplicity of red and white.
Did you spot the Dala horse on my mantlepiece? I discovered it at Kikki K this week and it had to come home with me:)
What a beautiful Lantern….
Just love it
Kikki K is such a treasure trove of yummy goodies! Your lantern is just beautiful Lisa…and the simplicity of red and white is breathtaking. Well done for getting a start on your Christmas crafting!
Damn, i was just at IKEA in Sydney yesterday, just a gorgeous idea, love Posie
Lovely lantern! Another georgeous idea!
This is so beautiful!
And Christmas already so near…
You are always full of such wonderful ideas.
your lantern is beautiful! I love how much the red reindeers pop out against the white of the lantern. I think lanterns look so beautiful on the front porch or in a window. Thanks for showing us how to make this.
Hi dear!!! I DO have a lantern just like that!!! From Ikea!!! A blue one! Do you think I can do such pretty artwork??? I will try!!! Thanks for sharing this cute work!!! Kisses!! Bela.
oh so pretty! I love red and white for christmas time 🙂
oh and must get the latest donna hay, didn’t see it at the shops today but would be great to take to hospital and drool over!
corrie:)
That brioche looks absolutely delectable!! It’s made me awfully hungry. And those lanterns! What a beautifully creative and simple idea that absolutely anyone could do – I just love it.
They turned out really pretty. Is the foam easily removable? I could see little stick-ons for every event.
this is so beautiful!
This is simply adorable. Thanks for the inspiration!!!I am a new follower. Found you through Cricut chirp! Cant wait to see what else you have in store for us!

This gave me an idea for decorating jarred candles. If I am successful with my idea, I will post it.
I can’t find the reindeer anywhere, do you have ideas as to where to find it???
Hi Gay – I cut the reindeer using my Cricut Electronic die cutting machine, and using a Christmas cartridge. If you know someone with a die cutting machine they would probably have a reindeer image that you could use.
Great idea and clever on your part.
Thanks Diane 🙂
