Are you a time poor sewer/sewist like me? Working full time and running a home doesn’t leave a lot of creative time in my sewing room. That is why I love easy projects that can be quickly made in an afternoon or evening. From the feedback I receive from my readers, it appears that you love these beginner friendly projects too. For Easter, I have designed and made a pile of these cute chick mug rugs – perfect to decorate your table for Easter and loved by young and old.
To make these chick mug rugs, you need three coordinating fabric scraps for the body and backing, scraps of orange and black for the beak and eyes, and a scrap of wool felt for the comb. Small scale prints work best in this project. I used some gorgeous prints from the Sarah Kay with Love fabric collection. Anyone who grew up in the 1970’s would be familiar with the lovely art by Sarah Kay. Devonstone Collection have release a new fabric range – Sarah Kay With Love – which is arriving in stores this month.
Here is a closeup of the pink prints in the Sarah Kay With Love fabric range.
The Chick Coaster is a great project to make for Easter. Team it with an Easter mug filled with Easter eggs/treats. You can find the pdf pattern available for immediate download from our Pattern Store and Etsy Shop.
