Book Review: Tilda’s Winter Ideas by Tone Finnanger

March 29, 2012 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 11 Comments

Tilda’s Winter Ideas is a delightful book that contains simple sewing projects and papercraft ideas with Tilda fabrics and embellishments.  The book contains many project ideas for gifts, decorations, cards, and soft toys, angels, and stockings. Many of the projects are suitable for Christmas crafting and decorating, but some can be used throughout the year.

All of the projects are beautifully styled and photographed, and are very inspiring with lots of decorating ideas. I love the turquoise, blue, pink and red colours that are used throughout – so fresh and pretty. All the pattern templates are available in the back of the book and are shown in the actual size so that it is easy to scan or photocopy them.

Some of my favourite projects include:

Mini Angel

Santa Claus

Details:
Publisher:         David and Charles

I was excited to see that Quilt Fabric Delights (Australia) will soon be stocking Tilda fabrics, papers, ribbons and kits.

I liked this book (I got a copy for christmas) but I found that the instructions weren’t very good for less experienced sewers (like me!)

I love these books. I have several of them and have made (and used) a lot of the projects. I even like just looking at the pictures/layouts. Thanks for sharing this book, I did not know she had a new book out.

Thank you for the book review. It really helps me to know what fellow crafters think of books before I buy them 🙂

Sharing a closer look at the Handy Drawstring Pouc Sharing a closer look at the Handy Drawstring Pouch today — a sweet little project that’s as practical as it is pretty. I stitched this one in the blue and gold colourway of the Tilda Songbird collection and love how the soft watercolour florals shine in a small make. The pouch features cleverly shaped panels (with no boxed corners), stands tall when in use, and folds completely flat for storage. It’s also reversible, which makes it such a fun and versatile sew.   These little pouches are perfect for organising your sewing room, gifting to a friend, or popping into a project bag.The pattern includes three sizes, and you can find it in both my Pattern Store and Etsy shop. Comment HANDY and I’ll send the link straight to your inbox.A big thank you to @tilda_australia for gifting the beautiful fabric.#tildasongbird #drawstringbagpattern #aspoonfulofsugardesigns #tildafabrics #sewingproject
