Vickie Eapan, the quilter from Spun Sugar Quilts, has just released her first quilt book, Large Block Quilts. The book includes 16 Quilt designs made from large blocks that are quick and easy to construct. They would be perfect for when you need to make a quilt in a hurry or for charity quilts. The designs range from modern to more traditional. Many of the designs would be suitable for those larger scale prints in your stash. The designs all combine prints with solids for a a more modern look.

So if you are a time poor quilter, the projects in this book will be right up your alley. They are all quickly assembled. The hard part will be deciding which quilt to make first!

Oh my goodness, love it! My grandmother always made large block quilts…most of hers had only 12 blocks in them.

That looks like a useful book for fast quilts. I’ve been working on some of my own ideas, but it would be nice to have a book with exact measurements for a quilt all laid out.

I think I want to make every pattern. They are all so great!
I also like the “Hidden Baskets” design. Maybe because it’s simple yet looks complex. I think it would also be great to experiment with color combinations, textures, etc.
Any of these blocks would make great baby quilts! four blocks and a border, and it’s done!
