A little bit of this and a little bit of that….

December 9, 2008 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 32 Comments

Firstly, thanks so much for all the wonderful feedback on Silver. For those WA readers that asked, the magazine is available in approx 80% of newsagencies in WA or by subscription from here.

I recently ordered a wonderful Japanese hat book from here. It has 35 full scale hat patterns in three different sizes. The pictorial instructions were really clear. I have already made my first hat – a wide brimmed sun hat – perfect for our upcoming summer holiday.

I have made another addition to Sarah’s bedroom makeover. I attached some fabric to an inexpensive Ikea mousemat so it will co-ordinate with her room.

I have also been making some gifts…

Sarah was delighted to receive a wonderful book from Tiffanie of Three Peas in a pod last week
that she won in a giveaway. It arrived with a beautiful hand made card. Thanks so much Tiffanie!! Tiffanie has loads of giveaways on her lovely blog and lots of crafty projects.

Thanks also to Suzie from Little Busy Bee for a lovely award that she bestowed on us recently!! Check out her lovely Christmas decorations and her tutorial to make a sweet little Christmas bag – perfect for gift giving.

Wow, Lisa, you have a lot to share! I love the hat. Making my own hats would be good for me, since hats never fit me (my head it too big). How did you attach the fabric to the mousemat? It looks great! Is the magazine also sold abroad?

Not only is a beautiful hat, but I think its pretty clever that you have made it from a Japanese craft book. My theory s that no matter how good the pictures are, a few words never go astray! (I have the loveliest kiddie craft book and haven’t been brave enough to try anything yet!).

The hat looks great and the mouse mat looks so much nicer than the dirty old grey one I am using right now. How did you attach the fabric?

Sarah’s room is going to be magazine worthy with all the handmade goodness you’ve been making for it.

Sharing a closer look at the Handy Drawstring Pouc Sharing a closer look at the Handy Drawstring Pouch today — a sweet little project that’s as practical as it is pretty. I stitched this one in the blue and gold colourway of the Tilda Songbird collection and love how the soft watercolour florals shine in a small make. The pouch features cleverly shaped panels (with no boxed corners), stands tall when in use, and folds completely flat for storage. It’s also reversible, which makes it such a fun and versatile sew.   These little pouches are perfect for organising your sewing room, gifting to a friend, or popping into a project bag.The pattern includes three sizes, and you can find it in both my Pattern Store and Etsy shop. Comment HANDY and I’ll send the link straight to your inbox.A big thank you to @tilda_australia for gifting the beautiful fabric.#tildasongbird #drawstringbagpattern #aspoonfulofsugardesigns #tildafabrics #sewingproject
